The Entrepreneurs Blog Is Now Startup Flavor

Change is afoot here. As you’ve noticed by now, the domain name and logo are different. The site and all things related to it are now ‘Startup Flavor’. Why the change? Well, initially it was because of a not-so-good reason. I got into a dispute with a company over use of the word ‘entrepreneur’. While it could have turned ugly, it didn’t. I’m pleased to announce that we came to a mutually agreeable solution that led to this new look and feel. I’m actually really happy with the agreement and I’m looking forward to the coming changes.

Here are a few things that will change and others that will stay the same:

1 – The domain name is shorter, so we don’t have to use a shortener. All of the links going out of here will be startupflavor.com/hsnh or the like. Easier to share the brand!

2 – The content is going to continue to focus on my occasional thoughts with a strong emphasis on posts from unique people with deep experience in related topics. I learn a lot from them and I hope you do, too.

3 – I’m hopeful we can get even more sharing and discussion going on. It’d be cool if this became a place to learn and chat about all things business.

4 – Just because ‘startup’ is in the name, that doesn’t mean we are leaving all of you that already have businesses behind. The stuff we’ll discuss here will hopefully continue to relate to all different types of businesses and entrepreneurs.

5 – I’ll spend some time and money on SEO for the first time in the history of this blog. I’d like to see more people here and more people sharing. I make $0 from this blog and continue to plan to make $0. It’s an outlet for me and a place we all learn from each other. The more the merrier, right?

6 – Regarding number 5 above, I need some help from you. I’ve never spent any time on inbound links or SEO. In order to make things happen on this new domain a little more, might I ask you to link to the new domain on one/some of your sites? Again, only if you feel the content is relevant and worth sharing. It’d be awesome though to see a link to StartupFlavor.com on a bunch of readers sites.

What else can I do with the change? Any suggestions on content, guest bloggers, the look/feel of the site, or other stuff? I really do value your opinions and comments so I hope you’ll leave some. Thanks for all of your support, sharing, comments, links and for even reading this. It’s great to have an online community of friends!

  • Alex! Nice website. I think one of the biggest changes you have to make is put a ‘Read More’ option on your posts. If you want people to comment, you have to allow your readers to scroll down and see the ‘comment’ box without having to click the ‘comment link’ next to your title.

But, what do I know? My traffic is subpar at the moment.

Thanks Jonathan! Glad you like it. I’m not sure if I undersand your comment though. There is a read more button a few sentences into each post, so I’m not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate further?

  • Alex, I like that change!  The title of an Entrepreneur has become so broad and fogged.  It doesn’t hold the same luster it once had.  I like the move.

Thanks, Kyle. I agree, it has been a bit overdone. Looking forward to your future comments here.

Hi Alex, While looking through the gallery for studio press, I came across your original blog. Just wanted to tell you that I ran into the same problem with Entrepreneur Magazine with my magazine GiftEntrepreneurs. Since we were a David vs Goliah, just as you were, we were forced to change the name. They have done this same thing to hundreds of other small businesses as well. As with many things, Goliah wins.
